I-Gen 08
Posted by Z_Blogz
Hey all once again, its been a while huh anyway I’ve just came back from camp and it was a fantastic event. The camp entitled I-Gen08 which comprised of kids aging from 12-16 years old and a mixed bunch of Reson8 members and leaders was amazing.
Anyway more about that a lil later, my Friday was kinda interesting hehe one of my senior managers is finally retiring not saying that he was bad but quite the opposite. During the short time that I had spent with the corporation, time being interviewed till the day he left his knowledge, life experience and enthusiasm to all parts of work and life has been vital to my development within the company and its kinda sad to see him leave. However knowing that he has been working for the past 33 years is a huge feat own its own and he deserves every opportunity to unwind and relax. Therefore on Friday was a day of paid celebrations oh yeah hahaha. The day started off with morning tea party, followed by two lunches (restaurant couldn’t accommodate all in one go) followed by a afternoon final celebrations which included some poetry my manager had written in his time (he is also a part-time poet). The final celebration was kinda funny like platters of food and alcohol was flowing and all this was happening whilst trying to do our daily work. Obviously not much was done and the reliability of work may be suss but its all good hahahaha.
Anyway, upon completing my daily end of day tasks quite early thankfully (around 430 I fin usually around 5) trained home packed and off I went. According to google maps my journey from home to campsite would take approx 1 hour and 15 mins. Leaving at 530pm and allowing for traffic and a short detour back to work to pick up some stuff which I accidently left back at the office I thought approx 730pm would be the latest I would arrive. Boy was I wrong about that one hahaha, traffic on the freeway was a complete nightmare also getting mildly lost due to crappy google map directions didn’t help either :P, anyway I finally arrived at 815pm and was feeling abit cranky and stressed as I thought I was late (being sound guy I am required to be on time) but luckily they have yet to have started and I was able to settle down.
My initially thoughts on the campsite was…. What a hole, everything looked old and dirty and there was hundreds of those long millipede like creatures everywhere and you could feel them crunch everytime you stepped on one kinda gross really and I mean everywhere on the beds on the walls in the shower and even in the pool. This is on top of the usual creepy crawlies around like ants, mosquitoes and spiders. One of the rooms smelt of urine and BO, while my room had a blood stained sheet which wasn’t pleasant at all ewwww. (I choose to believe someone had a blood nose rather than the alternative haha). After the Friday night service i realised why am I complaining this camp isn’t about me or the facilties but about the kids and creating every opportunity for them to get to know God better. There after I had a blast, yes showers where not great, beds where not comfy but these where minor issues in my mind.
Friday was the usual leaders meeting and then lights out, oh and I strongly believed we had a blessed group of kids this camp :D like we normally have huge issues with kids running around at light or hiding within the bushes or something. This camp they where all in their dorms at the right times (with sum leniency) which was great considering the ‘security’ guys where in bed even before the kids was which was so frustrating, anyway things worked out for the best and I wasn’t kept up any longer than I would have liked to. I love you guys J
Saturday was awesome huge breakfast of cereal fresh fruit and toast mmmm yum. But yeh weather for the morning was looking grim, however with the grace of God we where blessed once again with awesome weather. The skies cleared however we did have a few scares with a few sprinkles of rain, but we stood our ground and continued with the activities and yes within a few seconds the skies cleared up once again. Activities included mini golf, swimming, archery, and indoor sports on the Saturday which resulted in many guys limping hahaha. Donkey Jailbreak with a twist where the loser would be required to do 20 pushups and all players the opportunity to throw a basketball at loser. 20 pushups don’t sound like much but when yur exhausted from playing one on one with everyone its very tough (I lost 3 times soo yeh I was dying by the third time L) but yeh I think I was the one laughing at the end as I was only sore for the first day Tony and Ben was still complaining of soreness a few days after playing haha.
Saturday night was another awesome service where we did something out of the norm and we gathered around and prayed for everyone and the leaders was given a opportunity to pass the blessings onto the next generation. I think a lot of them realised the love we had for them that night as they just seemed to respond better to our requests after that moment. But yeh once again a very good message was done by Dr Ian Do an another amazing man of God.
Sunday was when we really started to feel tired due to certain ppl that choose not to sleep at night, yes Eric I’m talking about you, and your guitar playing at like 530 in the morning and screaming/running around from 6am which resulted in you complaining about being too hot inside your dorms and decided to sleep with your sleeping bag outside on the floor haha, and I’m sure the human gases didn’t help either.
Following the morning service we had the great battle between the two pre allocated teams me being team one, won haha ironic huh. Oh not to mention theres apparently a curse on Tony, apparently any team that he leads loses and there was no exception here. But yeh the battle comprised of quizzes, treasure hunts, indoor sporting activities, dodgeball, and water activities. Oh Peter is a champ at dodgeball hey, he basically won it for team one haha. The treasure hunt was quite funny as myself and two other guys was told to hide cards (50 cards)and lil plastic frogs (6 frogs) where they where worth 10 points and 50 points respectively. I promise I did not tell any of my team members where the frogs was but somehow my team ended up finding them all hahaha well done guys. But yeh in the end I think everyone had an awesome time and my team ended up winning which was great.
Oh there is also footage on facebook with two sumo’s (Steve and Tri) haha funny stuff that it’s a shame we don’t have footage of our charade game which resulted in like 45 mins of serious debating, and left one girl with an adverse reaction to caffeine(long story ahhaa)
But yeh Sunday night was then capped off with Anh Binh preaching his awesome message titled iphone for 3g or I - generation for thee. Hehe funny stuff coming from that guy and then followed by an awesome campfire. To which I had to leave as I was required to work on the Monday morning which was kinda sad as I would have liked to have stayed with the guys another night. But yeh going home was another scary experience considering the roads had no street lights and travelling at 110 kmh was not the nicest experience where all you can see is around 20m in front of your car. Adding to the situation that kangaroos are out and that I also got lost as I missed my turn and was driving on the wrong road for around 20 mins. My car rattling away isn’t the most comforting feeling either haha. Anyway luckily I got home safely and thank God for an amazing weekend that will not be forgotten any time soon.
Anyway I think I’ve written enough for now haha and I think I’ve killed enough of your time as well :P
